Statement of Faith

1. The Bible
We believe the Bible is God’s inspired, infallible, necessary, inerrant and sufficient Word. It is our final authority for what we believe and how we live, revealing God’s truth and His plan of salvation for all people.

2. God (The Holy Trinity)
We believe in one living and true God who exists eternally in three Persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is the Creator of all things and worthy of all worship, obedience, and love.

3. Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died as our substitute on the cross, rose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, and will return in power and glory. He alone is Savior and Lord.

4. The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, draws people to Christ, gives new life to all who believe, and lives within every Christian. He empowers believers to grow in holiness and to serve Christ faithfully.

5. Humanity and Sin
We believe God created humanity in His image—male and female—to reflect His glory. Because of sin, all people are separated from God and stand in need of salvation. No one can save themselves; only God’s grace in Christ makes salvation possible.

6. Salvation
We believe salvation is a gift of God offered freely to all who repent of their sin and trust in Jesus Christ alone. Through His death and resurrection, Jesus redeems the whole person. All who believe are forgiven, made new by the Holy Spirit, and kept by God’s power forever.

7. The Church and Christian Unity
We believe all believers are part of the body of Christ, His Church. God commands His people to worship together, love one another, pursue unity, and cooperate for the advancement of the gospel. We support and work alongside local churches while ministering to seafarers from many nations.

8. Christian Living and Mission
We believe every follower of Christ is called to live a life that honors God—marked by love, integrity, service, and witness. Jesus commands His people to make disciples of all nations. As a seafarers’ ministry, we seek to share the gospel, pray with and for crew members, and encourage them in their walk with Christ.

9. Last Things
We believe Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly in glory. He will raise the dead and judge all people in righteousness. Believers will live forever with the Lord in heaven, and those who reject Christ remain separated from Him in hell.

10. Marriage and the Sanctity of Human Life
We believe God designed marriage as the covenant union of one man and one woman. Human life is sacred from conception to natural death, and every person is created with dignity and value before God.

Agreement on Statement of Faith

By signing below, I acknowledge that as a volunteer with the International Seafarer Ministry of Miami, I will respect and uphold the Ministry’s Statement of Faith. I understand that the leaders of the Ministry live by this statement and seek to maintain it without alteration or contradiction.

I recognize that Ministry events, meetings, training, and activities include Christian practices such as prayer, reading Scripture, and direct references to Jesus, the Bible, and Christian character. I understand that while volunteers may hold individual doctrinal differences outside of this Statement of Faith, these differences will not interfere with the unity of the Ministry’s staff and participants.

I join this Ministry with the desire that our shared faith in Jesus Christ will promote unity among volunteers and staff, and enhance the service and ministry we provide to seafarers and others in need.
